WCM Methodology

With years of experience in deploying Web Content Management solutions at some of the world's most successful companies, Blue Fish has developed real expertise in making each WCM project go as smoothly as possible. To do so, we've developed an effective consulting methodology to help ensure your WCM project is successful.

Blue Fish's WCM Methodology takes clients through the four major stages of any Web Content Management project's lifestyle – Inception, Elaboration, Construction and Transition.

Inception

The project kicks off with our Inception phase, when Blue Fish works with our client to understand the business challenge at hand, envision the solution, and identify any risks. Inception follows a well-known process that starts with our highly effective WCM Workshop. After the workshop, Blue Fish moves on to perform a Site Audit, determine the visual design, and then complete a series of worksheets we use to document your specific WCM requirements. We then produce a solution vision showing how all the solution components fit together to meet your company's needs. We also help you create a user adoption strategy so that when it comes time to deploy the system, your users are excited to start working with it.

Elaboration

Elaboration is the second stage of a WCM project, during which the solution is designed and prototyped in preparation for the Construction phase. During Elaboration, Blue Fish validates our solution approach and mitigates risks. A small, capable team handles this whole process, investigating new technologies, addressing technical concerns, and building out the core of the solution that will be carried into Construction.

Construction

The Construction phase is what most clients think about when they consider a Web Content Management deployment. It's when Blue Fish gets our hands dirty in actually building the solution, iterating on templates and other components until they're just right. Our Construction phase also includes rigorous quality control and testing so that we can be sure the solution is stable and robust before we roll it out to end users.

Transition

The final phase in our methodology is the Transition of the WCM project into our client's environment. Blue Fish takes this phase very seriously, and we are focused on making sure that our clients get as much value as possible from their new solution. The Transition phase includes the deployment to your production servers, full documentation of the solution, training, and help with user adoption. Blue Fish partners with your IT staff to transfer knowledge so that going forward, they can maintain the system on their own.

Wellness

After the solution is deployed, Blue Fish can provide post-implementation support by crafting a Wellness Program tailored to your organization's unique needs. The Blue Fish Wellness Program is a subscription-based program providing enhancements, maintenance, and support for the deployed solution. Examples of activities that can be performed under the Wellness Program include:

  • Platform Upgrades
  • Enhancement Iterations
  • Architecture Reviews
  • Staff Recruiting
  • Level-3 and Ad-hoc Support
  • Remote System Maintenance
  • Technology Strategy Sessions
  • User Adoption Services
  • Technical Training
